The BIOFACH 2024 took place at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg from 13-16 February 2024. Since 1990, the fair has been an industry and trade meeting place all about organic food. It offers insights into food trends as well as fundamental questions about the future. Around 35,000 guests from 128 countries and 2,550 exhibitors from 94 countries took part this year. On 14 February 2024, Dr Markus Keller participated the programme with a lecture on “Plant-based meat alternatives: killer foods or healthy products?”, which was attended by numerous international visitors. In the panel discussion that followed, Dr Keller spoke together with Prof Dr Jan Wirsam (HTW Berlin) and Oliver Frehse (Topas) about the future and challenges of plant-based meat alternatives. The day concluded with the AK Veggie of the Association of Organic Food Producers (AÖL) and the VegOrganic association. Here, representatives from companies, associations and research institutions were able to exchange ideas on the topic of plant-based nutrition in organic quality. The next BIOFACH will take place from 11-14 February 2025.
